Keeping sustainability in mind is always important for a designer. This project was a chance to create sustainable packaging for an existing product that is manufactured using plastics. Most lip chap containers are made of plastic and rarely recycled so I wanted to create a solution.
Using environmentally friendly wood glue and craft paper, I created a hard paper tubing to house the lip chap.
I made a long tube and a short tube. The long tube was lined with a thin piece of masking paper to hold the small tube on top to act as a cap.
Last step was to make a label and lip chap. I made the lip chap myself using beeswax and peppermint oil to retain the environmental nature of the product. The label was printed on recycled paper.
Project Wrap Up
The product looks professional and real, I couldn’t have asked for it to turn out any better. This project shows my ability to create sustainable design.
